Participants learn how these concepts create pressure for organizations and why projects play a critical role in turning sustainability commitments into measurable action.

Explore what makes a project sustainable by looking at how PMI and GPM define projects, how projects differ from operations, and how project value extends from outputs to benefits and long-term impact. This session examines why every project has sustainability implications, introduces the principles of sustainable project management, and shows how the role of the project manager evolves from delivery lead to advocate, advisor, and architect of sustainable value working with sponsors, PMOs, and stakeholders to embed sustainability into project decisions.

Understand how Projects Integrating Sustainable Methods (PRiSM™) provides a structured method for sustainable project delivery. This session introduces the PRiSM™ life cycle, gates, workflows, and deliverables, then connects the method to the business case as the justification for action. Participants learn how to align projects with strategy and sustainability goals, define impact thresholds, express value in practical terms, and choose a case study to apply throughout the programme.

Understand where the P5 Standard fits within sustainable project management and how it helps assess project impacts across People, Planet, and Prosperity. This session introduces the P5 ontology, the five lenses, and the connection between projects, value chains, portfolios, and programmes. Participants then learn how to apply the P5 Impact Analysis, including when to use it, how to choose lenses and score impacts, how to read the results, and how to apply the method to their own case study.

Learn how the Sustainability Management Plan (SMP) turns sustainability analysis into practical project controls across the project life cycle. This session covers what goes into an SMP, including thresholds, KPIs, owners, actions, and reporting links, then connects project-level sustainability management to wider disclosure expectations. Participants explore dual materiality, global reporting frameworks, credibility in disclosure, and draft a project-based sustainability disclosure using their own case study.

Explore how procurement and stakeholder engagement shape the sustainability impact of a project. This session shows how project teams can influence outcomes across the supply chain through ethical supplier management, sustainable selection criteria, and P5 procurement practices. Participants then learn how to identify and engage stakeholders, manage expectations, use the power/interest matrix, apply fair process, and involve communities in decisions that affect them.

This session shows how contracts become practical levers for sustainable outcomes through supplier selection, sustainability terms, incentives, penalties, and close-out controls. Participants then learn how to define project success beyond the iron triangle, write multidimensional success criteria, and manage sustainability-related risks, issues, and hidden impacts using P5-complete risk registers and proactive, regenerative responses.

Learn how sustainability considerations can be integrated into project budgeting, progress measurement, scheduling, and resource planning. This session covers bottom-up budgeting, sustainability reserves, earned value, variances, tolerances, triggers, and composite project health views. Participants also explore how sustainable sourcing, ethical constraints, critical path, float, resource leveling, and baseline control affect project schedules and delivery decisions.

This session covers change-control procedures, sustainability-first status reporting, RAG indicators, and the role of configuration management in maintaining control. Participants also explore what makes a real project team, how teams develop, how conflict arises, and how sustainable project leaders can build trust, resolve conflict, and close the programme with a clear path to applying the learning in practice.
